The Chicago White Sox Paul Konerko goes guitar shopping

Four time All-Star, World Series Champion Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko came guitar shopping just two weeks after hitting his 400th career Major League home run. We were “all-star” struck when Paul came in –  we meet rock stars every day; but Konerko is a baseball superstar.  He hit the the first grand slam in White Sox World Series history creating the momentum that led to the Sox 4 game sweep over the Houston Astros in the 2005 series.

Paul picked out a Gibson SG, we can only assume that after becoming the 48th ball player to hit 400 home runs, baseball is no longer a challenge so now he’s off to master the guitar.

Go Sox!  and Cubs!  we love them both.

You wouldn’t ask us to choose Zeppelin or Sabbath?  Gibson or Fender?  would you?

TV and Film actor Thomas Gibson finds a 1929 Martin 00-18

Thomas Gibson,  TV’s Greg from Dharma & Greg and Hotch on CBS’s Criminal Minds, came by in search of a pre-war Martin.   Alex spent the afternoon with Thomas as he played our collection of  ’20s and ’30s Martins before he found the one, a 1929  Martin 00-18.

It was great hanging out with Thomas, we’ve been a fan of his since he starred in the spoof-tastic take on ’60s teen beach movies, Psycho Beach Party,  a great B-movie with a surf-tastic soundtrack.

Here’s the Psycho Beach Party theme by the fantastic Los Straitjackets.
